Who we are
Peter Johnston is a trading name of Johnston Design Group Ltd, registered in Scotland, company no. SC670333. We are responsible for the personal information described in this notice. For any question about it, please email bespoke@peter-johnston.co.uk.
What we collect
- When you request an appointment: your name, email address, telephone number if you give it, your interest, preferred location and anything you tell us about the commission.
- When you register interest in a piece: your name, email address, the piece, colour and size.
- When you become a client: your measurements, fitting notes, delivery address, order history and our correspondence with you.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange appointments.
- To make, fit and deliver your commission or order.
- To let you know when a piece you registered interest in becomes available.
- With your agreement, to send occasional news from the house. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We rely on the following legal bases: taking steps at your request before a contract, and performing that contract; our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and keeping proper client records; and your consent for news by email.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the house:
- FormSubmit, which delivers the website forms to our inbox.
- Vercel, which hosts this website and provides anonymous, cookie-free visitor statistics.
- Our email provider, which stores our correspondence.
- Squarespace Email Campaigns, for our occasional news, only if you have signed up.
- Makers and carriers, where needed to complete and deliver your order.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where information is transferred abroad, it is protected by the safeguards required by UK data protection law.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Visitor statistics are anonymous and collected without cookies.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a commission: up to two years.
- Registrations of interest: until the piece is available and for twelve months after, or until you ask us to remove you.
- Client records: while you are a client and for six years after your last order, as required for accounting and legal purposes.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive a copy to take elsewhere. You may withdraw consent for news by email at any time. Please email bespoke@peter-johnston.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would be grateful for the chance to put things right first.
Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
